Zia’s Ring

Statement: My Zia (aunt) has always been someone I’ve cherished in my life. She always wears big jewellery, sparkly clothes, and growing up I vividly remember her wearing these specific rings that were organically-shaped, made from resin, slightly translucent with pink/pearl hues, and embedded with Swavorski crystals.
The Opalite reminded me of the shape and colours of those rings, so I drilled into the stone and set the silver granules to mimic the crystals. I wanted the stone to sit directly on her finger because it is grounding due to its smooth and cool surface- which would hopefully be soothing for her arthritis. I created the band by twisting and melting silver sheet/wire.
