Statement: I love the lost wax casting process- both in jewellery and foundry settings. I tend to hold onto my buttons when working with jewellery- I love how they capture my fingerprints, take organic forms, and give life to the intended cast, but I think that it is a shame that no one ever gets to see their beauty. I held onto these buttons for a while, and after casting some dried dogwood berries that I made a rubber mold for, knew that they would suit each other. Whether it be the discards of a cast or a decomposing plant, we often fail to recognize the beauty and life that these forms permit due to our perceptions of idealization,
